Vacations by Rail offers a leisurely journey to some of America’s most breathtaking national parks.
Known for its delightful train journeys worldwide, one of its most popular trips is a 13-day adventure through the American West, visiting five stunning national parks.
The journey starts at Chicago’s Union Station, where guests board Amtrak’s Empire Builder train and settle into their accommodations. The overnight train leads to the first official stop at Glacier National Park. Guests will have time to explore the park, hike its awe-inspiring terrain, and witness its glaciers, lakes, and waterfalls. Mid-morning, guests will tour the famed Going-to-the-Sun Road in a vintage open-air Red Jammer bus, crossing the Continental Divide.
Next, the trip proceeds to Yellowstone National Park. Here, guests can visit its renowned attractions, including Upper and Lower Falls, Hayden Valley, Old Faithful, Fountain Paint Pots, and the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone.
The journey continues to Grand Teton National Park, where guests can enjoy a float along the Snake River. On the water, they can admire the majestic Teton mountain range and possibly spot bison, elk, and moose.
The adventure concludes with a visit to Utah, where guests will see Arches and Canyonlands National Parks. They can enjoy the natural arches, red rocks, and stunningly colorful sunsets.
The trip includes all rail travel, hotel accommodations for 12 nights (including four nights at Glacier Park Lodge or Grouse Mountain Lodge and two nights inside Yellowstone National Park), excursions and national park entrance fees, and all meals on board the train for guests upgrading to private sleeping accommodations.
The 13-day trip starts at $5,695 per person (double occupancy). There are still a few spots left for the June departure, but for more flexibility, check out the 2024 calendar, which includes departures from June through September.
